PLANTING

Location:

Description:

Ravelston, Edinburgh

Keeping maintenance low we put weed control membrane down then pebbles on top which reflected the colours of the slabs. Choosing 5 Viburnum standard ball plants gave a modern look with evergreen foliage and flowering throughout the winter into spring.

Manor Place, Edinburgh

A large free standing trellis framework was erected for growing vigorous climbers to cover an old unattractive office extension. This meant the climbers would not grow on to the building but up the trellis instead. This is the shadier part of the garden so planting was sourced accordingly. The climbers are of interest throughout the year.

This corner garden is exposed to all weathers and is mostly in shade. I completely resowed the lawn over a spring /summer season. The planting is seasonal and looks great at all times of the year. This is mostly herbaceous planting as requested by my client.

A back garden pond for frogs. This is a wildlife haven as the marginal planting encourages all kinds of animals and insects. A flower bed surrounding the pond gives colour and shade using a variety of low growing trees and shrubs. Spring bulbs make it attractive to look at in the early months of the year.

The fence on this corner site was painted. Planting a beech hedge in front of the fence gives more privacy. Evergreen shrubs for seasonal colour were planted around the patio area.

A real live Heron at the pond waiting for lunch. The ball stops the pond from freezing over completely. Pond plants give cover and shade for the aquatic wildlife.
