My initial job is to listen to your thoughts and ideas for your garden, your likes and dislikes, taste, and colours.
We will discuss the garden function, who will use it, and focus on specific details alongside any timescale and budget. A design will be created for you by plotting exact dimensions, incorporating your garden aspirations, and including any existing features you would like to keep. I will draw up a variety of technical drawings - ‘plan views’ for you to choose from or mix together. Once you have decided on a garden design you are happy with, I will create a final scale drawing ready for the next stage.
Your final garden design drawing will have the atmosphere, mood, colour and texture that will create the powerful impact you are looking for.
AILEEN RANKIN GARDEN & LANDSCAPE DESIGN
By using the new garden layout plan, planting around new architecture and landscaping will give the garden structure and balance. Using your brief of likes and dislikes, a mix of your specified planting will be incorporated into the design.
A theme can run through the planting, be it colour or origin. Climate, weather and soil conditions will also determine the type of planting to suit your garden. Seasonal planting means the garden will have something growing and flowering all year long, from Snowdrops to Christmas Roses. A background of evergreen shrubs or trees can frame the garden, adding height and texture.
Whether it’s a contemporary feel or a family space you are interested in there is a plant plan to suit you.
Maintaining your garden depends on the time you have available and the desire to work in the garden. Gardening should not be a chore. Throughout the concept design, brief and plant plan, your decision on how much gardening you want to do will reflect on the completed garden. I will leave you with garden maintenance advice on keeping it looking good throughout the year. More plants-less weeds!
